The State of Illinois has launched a new relief fund to support artists and cultural organizations impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.
Amanda Williams is with the Arts For Illinois Steering Committee.
"My fellow artists, I speak to you now, in that my hope is that this emergency fund can help you keep your lights on, or bridge you until the next cell phone bill is due or to put food on your table."
Governor J-B Pritzker says the partnership between the State, the City of Chicago and the philanthropic community is called the Arts Illinois Relief Fund. It's already raised over four million dollars to support grant programs for non-profit arts organizations and individual artists.
There is also a free online platform featuring singers, poets, painters, and writers. The website is here.
