Republican lawmakers on the Illinois Ethics Commission are demanding commission chairs take steps to resume meetings immediately.
State Representative Patrick Windhorst of Metropolis says for state government to regain the public's trust, lawmakers need to enact serious ethics reforms.
"That means no legislators as lobbyists. It also means no politicians walking through the revolving door the day they leave office. We must also tighten requirements on legislators when it comes to disclosing our outside income."
Following the GOP lawmakers news conference Monday, democratic co-chairs of the commission issued a statement saying the commission will meet in the coming weeks to submit a final report to the General Assembly.
