Illinois COVID-19 Cases Top 98,000 (May 19)

More than 98,000 Illinoisans have received a positive COVID-19 test result, as the state added 1,545 new cases on Tuesday.

The overall total now stands at 98,030 positive test results out of 621,684 tests performed. Another 146 deaths were also reported on Tuesday, bringing the state's death toll to 4,379.

LOCAL CASE UPDATES (4:15pm Update)

Effingham County Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Six overall positive cases of COVID-19, with three recoveries and one death.
  • 377 tests have been administered.

Egyptian Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases stands at 10, with 9 recoveries.
  • 744 tests have been administered in the three-county service area.

Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department:

  • One new case - a man in his 20s from Williamson County.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 53, with 40 recoveries and one death in Williamson County, 11 cases with ten recoveries in Franklin County.

Jackson County Health Department:

  • Four new cases reported - one teen/pre-teen girl, two men in their 20s and one in his 60s.
  • Jackson County's total positive test count is 188, with 147 recoveries and ten deaths.

Jefferson County Public Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall there have been 102 positive cases of COVID-19, with 85 recoveries and 14 deaths.

Marion County Health Department

  • One new case - a woman in her 20s who is isolating at home.
  • Overall, there have been 50 positive cases of COVID-19, with 35 recoveries.

Perry County Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, 39 positive cases of COVID-19, with 32 recoveries.
  • 525 tests have been administered.

Randolph County Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • 53 active cases, with 49 isolating at home and four hospitalized 
  • Overall, 245 positive cases of COVID-19, with 189 recoveries and three deaths.
  • 1,329 tests have been administered.

Richland County Public Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, three positive cases of COVID-19, with three recoveries.
  • 714 tests have been administered.

Southern Seven Health Department:

  • Four new cases, all from Union County: a man in his 50s, a woman in her 70s, a man in his 80s, and a woman in her 90s.
  • Overall, Southern Seven reports 186 total confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 68 recoveries and four deaths.
