The Illinois Department on Aging reminds there's help for seniors navigating Medicare's open enrollment period.
Senior Health Insurance Program, or "SHIP" director Sandy Leith says it's a good idea to compare plans each year to make sure you are getting the coverage you need at the best prices. She suggests starting with the website: mymedicare.gov.
"That's an account that you can set up, personally, between you and Medicare. You will be able to see your records. You can view your Medicare card. You can view your claims. It's the best thing since sliced bread and it will help you through records and with your healthcare insurance needs."
From there...Leith recommends making an appointment with a "SHIP" counselor to answer any of your questions. Call 1-800-252-8966 to make an appointment.
