IL Auditor General Vies for 3rd Term

IL Auditor General Bill Holland
IL Auditor General Bill Holland

Illinois Auditor General Bill Holland has served for two decades as the state's highest auditing authority.

It's time for the General Assembly to consider who that position should go to next. And Holland is on track for another ten-year term. Holland has seen his share of state corruption, including the arrests of two Governors. He says while the job's not always easy, it's fulfilling: "The job has been a challenge for the past 20 years. And as I've told people frequently, it's the rare job where you can go to work everyday and enjoy what you do and I go to work everyday and enjoy what I do. And I'd like to do it again."

The Auditor General is responsible for conducting audits of state agencies as requested by the General Assembly. Twenty-four people applied for the job.   A bipartisan legislative commission reviewed their applications, and has recommended Holland.  If the House and Senate agree, Holland will be sworn in for a third term in August.
