Heavy Rains Bring High Water

Waters are rising along some areas of the Mississippi River while utility workers try to restore power after weekend storms.

The National Weather Service says the Mississippi above St. Louis should crest Monday 11 feet above flood stage at Grafton. It's projected to crest about 13 feet above flood stage on Tuesday in Alton.

Several thousand Ameren customers in the Metro East remained without power on Sunday.

Local Closures/Warnings:

Locally, Franklin County's Highway Department re-opened several roads Monday afternoon that were closed over the weekend due to high water.

The National Weather Service issued a Flood Warning for the Big Muddy River near Plumfield. That flood will affect portions of Franklin and Williamson Counties. In addition, a Flood Warning remains in effect for the Big Muddy River in Jackson County.

The National Weather Service says several days of drier weather could be ahead.
