Heartland Regional Medical Center has expanded COVID-19 testing capabilities in southern Illinois with new lab equipment and a drive-through testing site.
The Marion hospital has obtained lab equipment to reduce the turnaround time for diagnostic testing in the region, with most results available in less than 48 hours. It previously relied on outside labs for processing COVID-19 tests, with results averaging three days or more, depending on demand.
To better handle an expected increase in demand for testing, Heartland Regional has opened a drive-through, Call-Ahead COVID-19 Testing Site behind the hospital on Route 13 in Marion. It’ll be open to the public on weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To get tested, call 888-543-2786.
Patients should not have any out-of-pocket costs but should check with their health plan before scheduling a test. If you do not have insurance, you'll be asked to provide your social security number, driver’s license, or state ID.
