Governor Bruce Rauner participated in a roundtable discussion on Wednesday May 16th, 2016 with nearly a dozen concerned local business leaders. Rauner heard about the issues that the business group is most concerned about. The Chief Executive said he is working with the General Assembly to make reforms in the three areas, he says, need changing: (1) Worker's Compensation Costs (2) Property Taxes (3) the practice of deficit spending.
With a looming May 31st deadline for Springfield to pass a budget, the Governor said that he would go along with a hike in the state income tax, but only if reforms are enacted in the areas above.
