Governor Doesn't Frequent State Parks and Historic Sites

By AP

Chicago, IL – Governor Rod Blagojevich won't know what he missed when two dozen state parks and historic sites shut down because of budget cuts.

That's because his spokesman says the governor's never visited them.

Blagojevich Spokesman Lucio Guerrero says a lot of other people haven't visited either because the decision to close places is based on attendance and not whether the governor likes them.

Guerrero says Blagojevich hasn't made any personal visits or held any events at the eleven state parks and 13 historic sites slated to close because of efforts to close a two billion dollar budget hole.

But being a no-show isn't likely to do much for Blagojevich's image. The governor already has been chided for being too Chicago-centric, starting with his refusal to live in the executive
Mansion in Springfield.
