During Friday's COVID-19 briefing, Illinois Governor J-B Pritzker addressed the whereabouts of some members of his family during the state's ongoing stay at home order.
The governor says his wife and daughter were in Florida in early March and sheltered in place there once states started issuing stay at home orders. He says they have since returned to the Midwest.
"We have a working farm. They're there now. There are animals on that farm. That is an essential function to take care of animals at a farm. So, that's what they're doing."
Pritzker says he has been private about his family whereabouts because of threats to their safety.
"We've seen there are people who stand outside the Thompson Center and stand outside the Capitol in Springfield holding, I mean, hateful signs that reference me personally and suggest, if not say, but suggest the potential for violence."
Pritzker blames a republican super-pac for storylines that have led to the threats.
