You'll be paying more at the gas pump to travel over the holidays.
The gas price monitoring website Gas-Buddy-dot-com reports that the average price per gallon in Illinois is 30-cents higher than last week.
If you're looking to pay lower gas prices, Patrick DeHaan with Gas Buddy says you'll find lower prices in border states to the south.
"If you're going north, if you're going to Wisconsin, Indiana or Chicago, you'll probably see those higher prices. So, if you're going south or southwest you'll probably be OK."
What's causing the high prices? DeHaan blames it on refinery problems at facilities in Joliet and Robinson, Illinois.
And, DeHaan says it could be the first quarter of 2018 before those problems are corrected.
