A prisoner involved in a weekend altercation with guards at the Pinckneyville Correctional Center is a former Tamms Supermax inmate.
Department of Corrections spokesman Tom Shaer says one of the three inmates that took part in Sunday's altercation involving four prison guards was previously housed at Tamms. Shaer says the inmate was transferred to the medium security Pinckneyville prison from a maximum-security facility because of good behavior since leaving Tamms.
Shaer declined to identify the prisoner, but other sources have identified him as 30-year old Rodolfo Rosas. The Department of Corrections inmate locator indicates Rosas is now housed at the Menard maximum-security prison in Chester. Pinckneyville Correctional Center was placed on a Level-1 lock down following Sunday's altercation.
Shaer says the majority of former Tamms inmates have not created security problems since being re-located to other state prisons following Tamms' closure in 2012.
