Former SIU men's basketball coach Barry Hinson is back in college basketball.
Sports Illustrated reports the 38-year coaching veteran is returning to his alma mater, Oklahoma State, as an analyst.
Oklahoma State head coach Mike Boynton told Sports Illustrated Hinson will be his first analyst.
"The game's growing, there's a lot more specific ways that guys can help that don't necessarily cross over into other areas. So, just his experience game planning and having seen things on his own, or maybe he's played a defense that we can try to implement."
Hinson stepped down after seven seasons as the Salukis' head coach immediately following SIU's loss in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament last March.
He won 116 games in Carbondale and 321 games as a head coach overall.
