Flooding Creates Problems Across Region

Flooding has resulted in several road closures across the southern Illinois region.

The Franklin County Emergency Management Agency says as of 11:00 AM  Friday the following roads are closed until further notice because of flooding: Deering Road, Peach Orchard Road and Park Street Road along the Franklin/Perry County line.

Williamson County Emergency officials are warning all drivers to be cautious on county roads.  Several roads have had their shoulders washed away and others  have incurred a lot of flood damage.

Flash Flood Warnings remained in effect until about 7:00am across southern Illinois, southwestern Indiana, and western Kentucky.

Storm reports from the overnight severe weather include hail, high winds, funnel clouds, and a few possible tornadoes in southeast Missouri and southern Illinois.

In Evansville, Indiana, a new record was set for rainfall - nearly five inches fell on Thursday - shattering the old record of 2.86 inches.

Friday's forecast calls for cooler and drier conditions, which will likely continue through the weekend.
