An elderly truck driver died in a single vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in Franklin County.
Illinois State Police say the coroner pronounced the 75-year-old man from Memphis, Tennessee dead on the scene at milepost 63 on Interstate 57.
Troopers say a preliminary investigation indicates the right steer tire of the FedEx tractor trailer dropped into a 200-foot shoulder cut-out in a construction zone on I-57. Once it hit the end of the cut-out, the vehicle left the pavement, traveled down a ravine, overturned and hit a tree.
