SIUC's Faculty Union says a majority of tenured and tenure-track faculty oppose the proposed reorganization from Chancellor Carlo Montemagno.
In a release, the Faculty Association points to a compilation of votes on the proposal. That compilation shows 75% of faculty have voted to extend the deadline for reviewing the restructuring plan.
The Chancellor has said those votes don't mean opposition, but rather a desire to have more time to consider his changes. But Faculty Association President David Johnson says that's not an accurate assessment.
The Faculty Association also points to a straw poll - which shows nearly 80% of faculty oppose the plan, which would reorganize colleges and schools on campus - and eliminate department chairs.
