Early computer problems hampered vote counting Tuesday night at the Effingham County Clerk's Office. Clerk Marsha Popp says despite the delay, with the exception of provisional ballots, all votes were counted by midnight. The unofficial results show, in the only local contested race, County Board District F, Republican Elizabeth Huston garnered 82 % of the vote to beat Democrat Anthony Robertson, who collected 17 % of the vote. On the issue of should the Stewardson Fire Protection District be elected, instead of appointed, 43 votes went to yes, versus 28 no votes.
