Eastern Illinois University in Charleston has a new leader.
David Glassman was introduced Monday as the 12th President of EIU. The 61-year old Glassman comes to Eastern from Bradley University in Peoria where he currently serves as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Glassman has been at Bradley since 2010.
Glassman says he was impressed by the passion for the university shown by faculty, staff, and students. He says enrollment management will be his top priority. Glassman’s first day on the job at Eastern will be June 1st. Glassman replaces William Perry who plans to retire in June.
The University has been interviewing candidates the past few months. EIU has an enrollment of about 8,900 students.
