Southern Illinois University could soon be launching a national search for two separate campus chancellors, after the resignation from Edwardsville Chancellor Julie Furst-Bowe Monday.
SIU President Randy Dunn, who has been serving as the Carbondale campus Chancellor since the unexpected death of Paul Sarvela, says he has no plans to serve in the same role for SIUE.
They're going to have to have leadership at the site. And again, we're also in a position where we're going to be continuing a search for a permanent chancellor on the Carbondale campus.

"The best move, again, given the Board's thinking about it and ultimately their approval on how to proceed, would be to have an interim for the full year at Edwardsville while a permanent search takes place up there."
A national search for a new Carbondale CEO has been suspended, after the university failed to come to terms with its top candidate in June.
Furst-Bowie has accepted a job as Vice President at Chippewa Valley Technical College. Her last day in Edwardsville is August 14.
SIU Trustees meet in July in Springfield, and are expected to discuss, if not decide, what the next steps are in both vacancies.
