Illinois Governor J-B Pritzker says another stay-at-home order will go into effect starting Friday. That’s despite some pending legal challenges.
The latest order will relax a number of restrictions that have been in place for nearly two months. Pritzker says Illinois’ pandemic situation is gradually changing.
“All these changes represent a shift in our approach to COVID-19, a shift made possible by the millions of Illinoisans who have stepped up by staying home and keeping each other safe.” Pritzker said.
Hospitals and surgical centers will be able to conduct certain elective surgeries, a number of state parks and golf courses will be allowed to reopen, and non-essential businesses may start fulfilling orders by phone or online.
At the same time, everyone who is able to do so will also be required to wear a mask in any place where social distancing isn’t possible. Public health experts say that is one of the best ways to prevent spreading the virus.
