Authorities are investigating the cause of a deadly structure fire in southern Illinois.

The Union County Sheriff's office says the victim is believed to be the home owner, 87-year-old Lou Etta Rion.
Around 2:45 Tuesday morning, the Anna, Cobden and Dongola Fire Departments responded to the fire on Lick Creek Road, just east of Interstate 57. Almost eight hours later, a body - believed to be Rion - was recovered from the aftermath of the fire.

An autopsy on the victim's body was scheduled for Tuesday evening.
