Deadline is Here for Bars and Restaurants to Apply for Emergency Grant Funds

Today is an important day for some industries being hurt by the stay at home orders due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Murphysboro Mayor Will Stephens reminds this is the final day to apply for 14 million dollars in Hospitality Emergency Grants earmarked for Illinois tourism.

Bars and Restaurants that generated less than 500-thousand dollars in revenue in 2019 are eligible for up to 10-thousand dollars. Bars and Restaurants that generated more than 500-thousand in 2019 are eligible for up to 25-thousand.

Funds can be used for rent, payroll, and other accounts payable.

The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity hopes to distribute the money by April 6th.
