Daily Update: Illinois COVID-19 Cases Grow by 2,352 (May 23)

Illinois' COVID-19 count grew by 2,352 on Saturday, bringing the total number of cases since the pandemic began to 107,796.

Saturday's report also added 75 deaths, growing the overall death toll to 4,790.

LOCAL CASE UPDATES (Saturday Update)

Effingham County Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Six overall positive cases of COVID-19, with four recoveries and one death.

Egyptian Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases stands at 10, with 10 recoveries.

Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 56, with 41 recoveries and one death in Williamson   County, 11 cases with ten recoveries in Franklin County.

Jackson County Health Department:

  • 8 new cases reported - three women and one man in their 20s, one man in his 50s, one woman in her 60s, and two men in their 60s.
  • Jackson County's total positive test count is 210, with 168 recoveries and ten deaths.

Jefferson County Public Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall there have been 102 positive cases of COVID-19, with 86 recoveries and 14 deaths.

Marion County Health Department

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, there have been 51 positive cases of COVID-19, with 44 recoveries.

Perry County Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, 40 positive cases of COVID-19, with 36 recoveries.

Randolph County Health Department:

  • 2 new cases reported.
  • 41 active cases, with 38 isolating at home and three hospitalized.
  • Overall, 262 positive cases of COVID-19, with 218 recoveries and three deaths.
  • 1,214 negative test results.

Richland County Public Health Department:

  • 2 new cases reported - though the patients do no live in Richland County. Public health officials say the two worked in the county within the last week, and are now isolating at their homes outside Richland County.
  • Overall, three positive cases of COVID-19, with three recoveries in Richland County.

Southern Seven Health Department:

  • 2 new deaths - both women in their 90s from Union County.
  • 3 new cases reported: one woman in her 50s, one woman in her 60s, and one woman in her 90s - all from Union County.
  • Overall, Southern Seven reports 202 total confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 78 recoveries and six deaths.
