Daily Update: On the Day Illinois Enters Phase 3, 1,600 New COVID-19 Cases(May 29)

More than 1,600 new COVID-19 cases were reported on Friday, the same day the state moved to the next level in its reopening plan.

Illinois Department of Public Health Director Doctor Ngoze Ezike says with the additional 1,622 new cases, the state's overall total now stands at 117,455 positive test results.

An additional 86 Illinoisans also died of COVID-19, bringing the death toll to 5,270.

LOCAL CASE UPDATES (4:45pm Update)

Effingham County Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • 7 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with four recoveries and one death.
  • 580 negative tests results.

Egyptian Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases stands at 11, with 10 recoveries.
  • 942 tests administered in the three-county service area

Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department:

  • 4 new cases - a female child, a woman in her 20s, a man in his 50s, and a man in his 80s.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 64, with 46 recoveries and one death in Williamson   County, 12 cases with 11 recoveries in Franklin County.

Jackson County Health Department:

  • 16 new cases reported - a boy and a girl under age 10, two pre-teen/teen boys, one woman and two men in their 20s, one woman in her 30s, two men in their 40s, one woman in her 50s, two men in their 60s, a man and a woman in their 80s, and one woman in her 90s.
  • Jackson County's total positive test count is 276, with 194 recoveries and ten deaths.

Jefferson County Public Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall there have been 104 positive cases of COVID-19, with 88 recoveries and 14 deaths.
  • 1290 negative test results.

Marion County Health Department

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, there have been 51 positive cases of COVID-19, with 49 recoveries.
  • 1279 negative test results.

Perry County Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, 42 positive cases of COVID-19, with 38 recoveries.
  • 637 negative test results.

Randolph County Health Department:

  • 1 new case reported.
  • 22 active cases, with 21 isolating at home and one hospitalized.
  • Overall, 268 positive cases of COVID-19, with 242 recoveries and four deaths.
  • 1,313 negative test results.

Richland County Public Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, three positive cases of COVID-19, with three recoveries in Richland County. Two cases were identified, but those patients live outside Richland County.
  • 823 negative test results.

Southern Seven Health Department:

  • 3 new deaths - a woman in her her 40s and two men in their 70s, all from Union County.
  • 10 new cases reported - three men in their 20s, three men in their 30s, and four men in their 40s, all from Pulaski County.
  • Overall, Southern Seven reports 226 total confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 93 recoveries and 11 deaths.
