Daily Update: 1,600 More COVID-19 Cases (June 2)

More than 1,600 new cases of COVID-19 were reported on Tuesday. The state's Department of Public Health confirms 1,614 new positive test results, bringing the overall total to 122,848.

In addition, another 113 people died due to COVID-19. The state's death toll is now 5,525.

LOCAL CASE UPDATES (4:00pm Update)

Effingham County Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • 7 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with four recoveries and one death.
  • 616 negative tests results.

Egyptian Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases stands at 11, with 10 recoveries.
  • 1,024 tests administered in the three-county service area

Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department:

  • 1 new death reported - a woman in her 80s from Williamson County.
  • No new cases reported.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 68, with 53 recoveries and one death in Williamson   County, 12 cases with 12 recoveries in Franklin County.

Jackson County Health Department:

  • 1 new case reported - a woman in her 60s.
  • Jackson County's total positive test count is 290, with 221 recoveries and ten deaths.

Jefferson County Public Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall there have been 104 positive cases of COVID-19, with 90 recoveries and 14 deaths.
  • 1399 negative test results.

Marion County Health Department

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, there have been 51 positive cases of COVID-19, with 50 recoveries.
  • 1,383 negative test results.

Perry County Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, 42 positive cases of COVID-19, with 39 recoveries.
  • 712 negative test results.

Randolph County Health Department:

  • 1 new case reported.
  • 9 active cases, with 8 isolating at home and one hospitalized.
  • Overall, 272 positive cases of COVID-19, with 259 recoveries and four deaths.
  • 1,420 negative test results.

Richland County Public Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, three positive cases of COVID-19, with three recoveries in Richland County. Two cases were identified, but those patients live outside Richland County.
  • 853 negative test results.

Southern Seven Health Department:

  • 1 new death reported - a woman in her 70s from Union County
  • 17 new cases reported:
    - 1 woman in her 40s, 1 woman in her 50s, 1 woman in her 60s from Alexander County
    - 1 woman in her 50s from Johnson County
    - 1 woman in her 20s from Pulaski County
    - 1 woman in her 20s, 1 woman in her 30s, 1 woman and 2 men in their 40s, 1 man in his 50s, 1 woman and 1 man in their 60s, 1 woman and 2 men in their 70s, and 1 woman in her 80s from Union County
  • Overall, Southern Seven reports 255 total confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 97 recoveries and 12 deaths.
