Daily COVID Update: (June 9)

Illinois reported nearly 800 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, but leaders say the overall trend is still going down.

With an additional 797 cases, the state's total positive test count sits at 129,212.

Tuesday also saw 95 new deaths from COVID-19, pushing the death toll past 6,000 - to 6,018.

Overall, the positivity rate for Illinois from June 2 - June 8 is 4%.

LOCAL CASES (4:00pm Update)

Effingham County Health Department:

  • 8 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with six recoveries and one death.
  • 749 negative tests results.

Egyptian Health Department:

  • Total COVID-19 positive cases stands at 11, with 11 recoveries.
  • 1,162 tests administered in the three-county service area

Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department:

  • 4 new cases reported in Williamson County - a boy under 18, a woman in her 30s, a man in his 50s, and a man in his 90s.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 83 cases with 58 recoveries and one death in Williamson County, 12 cases with 12 recoveries in Franklin County.

Jackson County Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Jackson County's total positive test count is 305, with 256 recoveries and 11 deaths.

Jefferson County Public Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall there have been 104 positive cases of COVID-19, with 90 recoveries and 14 deaths.
  • 1,668 negative test results.

Marion County Health Department

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, there have been 56 positive cases of COVID-19, with 52 recoveries.
  • 1,569 negative test results.

Perry County Health Department:

  • Overall, 43 positive cases of COVID-19, with 40recoveries.
  • 757 negative test results.

Randolph County Health Department:

  • 1 new death reported.
  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, 277 positive cases of COVID-19, with 266 recoveries and six deaths.
  • 1,954 negative test results.

Richland County Public Health Department:

  • Overall, four positive cases of COVID-19, with three recoveries in Richland County. Two additional cases were identified, but those patients live outside Richland County.
  • 1,004 negative test results.

Southern Seven Health Department:

  • 1 new case reported - a woman in her 50s from Johnson County.
  • Overall, Southern Seven reports 265 total confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 126 recoveries and 13 deaths.
