Daily COVID Update: (June 18)

Thursday's COVID-19 report from the Illinois Department of Public Health shows new cases are holding steady in the state, with 593 new positive tests over the past 24 hours, along with 55 deaths.

Illinois' overall COVID-19 cases now total 134,778, and the death toll is now 6,537.

The state's positivity rate - a number comparing positive tests with the overall test count - remains at 3% for June 11-17. Illinois has processed more than 1.2 million tests since the pandemic arrived.

LOCAL CASES (3:45pm Update)

Effingham County Health Department:

  • 3 new cases - a woman in her 50s and two teen boys.
  • 11 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with seven recoveries and one death.
  • 1,038 negative tests results.

Egyptian Health Department:

  • Total COVID-19 positive cases stands at 13, with 11 recoveries.
  • 1,385 tests administered in the three-county service area

Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department:

  • 1 new death in Williamson County - a man in his 70s.
  • 2 new cases in Williamson County - a man in his 50s and a woman in her 50s.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 94 cases with 72 recoveries and 4 deaths in Williamson County, 12 cases with 12 recoveries in Franklin County.

Jackson County Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Jackson County's total positive test count is 320, with 275 recoveries and 18 deaths.

Jefferson County Public Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall there have been 107 positive cases of COVID-19, with 90 recoveries and 14 deaths.
  • 2,204 negative test results.

Marion County Health Department:

  • 1 new case - a woman in her 60s.
  • Overall, there have been 57 positive cases of COVID-19, with 55 recoveries.
  • 1,801 negative test results.

Perry County Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, 44 positive cases of COVID-19, with 42 recoveries.
  • 985 negative test results.

Randolph County Health Department:

  • Overall, 279 positive cases of COVID-19, with 270 recoveries and seven deaths.
  • 2,260 negative test results.

Richland County Public Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, 4 positive cases of COVID-19, with 4 recoveries in Richland County. Two additional cases were identified, but those patients live outside Richland County.
  • 1,154 negative test results.

Southern Seven Health Department:

  • 2 new deaths - a man in his 70s and a woman in her 90s, both from Union County
  • 1 new case - a man in his 60s from Pulaski County.
  • Overall, Southern Seven reports 279 total confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 173 recoveries and 18 deaths.
  • 3,300 negative test results in the 7 county service area (as of June 12).
