Daily COVID Update: (July 30)

Illinois COVID-19 report showed nearly 1,800 new infections on Thursday, as Governor JB Pritzker warned several parts of the state are "moving in the wrong direction" when it comes to positivity rates and other metrics.

With 1,773 new positive cases reported, Illinois' overall COVID-19 total is now 176,896. Further, another 18 people died from complications associated with the coronavirus. That pushes the death toll to 7,478.

The overall statewide positivity remained at 3.8% for the week ending July 29, and health officials report 1,452 people were hospitalized across Illinois with COVID-19. Of those, 353 were in the ICU, and 149 were on ventilators.

LOCAL CASES (8:00pm Update)

Clay County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 1 new case reported - a woman in her 20s.
  • 12 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with eight recoveries.
  • 1,180 negative test results.

Crawford County Health Department (Region 6):

  • No new cases reported.
  • 28 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 23 recoveries.
  • 1,122 tests administered.

Edwards County Health Department (Region 6):

  • No new cases reported.
  • 13 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 10 recoveries.
  • 452 negative test results (as of July 30).

Effingham County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 3 new cases reported - an infant boy, a woman in her 20s, and a man in his 70s.
  • 91 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 56 recoveries and one death.
  • 4,473 negative tests results.

Egyptian Health Department (Region 5):Gallatin, Saline, & White Counties

  • 9 new cases reported - a man in his 70s from Gallatin County; a man in his 40s, a woman in her 50s, a woman in her 60s, and a man and woman in their 70s from Saline County; a woman in her 40s, a man in his 60s, and a man in his 70s from White County.
  • 192 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 92 recoveries and one death.
  • 4,598 tests administered in three-county service area.

Fayette County Health Department (Region 6):

  • No new cases reported.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 52 cases with 40 recoveries and three deaths.
  • 2,148 tests administered.

Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 13 new cases reported - a girl under 10, a teen girl, a man in his 20s, a woman in her 30s, and a man in his 80s from Franklin County; three men and two women in their 20s, a woman in her 40s, a woman in her 50s, and a man in his 60s from Williamson County.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 117 cases with 59 recoveries in Franklin County, and 297 cases with 175 recoveries and 5 deaths in Williamson County.

Hamilton County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 4 new cases reported - a girl under 12, a teen boy, a woman in her 30s, and a man in his 40s.
  • 19 overall positive cases, with ten recoveries.

Jackson County Health Department (Region 5):

  • **Health Alert In Effect
  • 15 new cases reported - three teen boys, four women and three men in their 20s, a man and a woman in their 30s, a woman in her 40s, a woman in her 50s, and a woman in her 70s.
  • Overall, there have been 588 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 417 recoveries and 19 deaths.

Jasper County Health Department (Region 6):

  • No new cases reported.
  • 52 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 42 recoveries and seven deaths.
  • 1,230 negative test results.

Jefferson County Public Health Department (Region 5):

  • 6 new cases reported - two girls under 10, a man and a woman in their 20s, a woman in her 40s, and a woman in her 70s.
  • Overall there have been 190 positive cases of COVID-19, with 137 recoveries and 14 deaths.
  • 4,740 negative test results.

Lawrence County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 1 new case reported - a man in his 70s.
  • Overall, 42 positive cases, with eight recoveries.
  • 1176 negative test results.

Marion County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 4 new cases reported - a woman in her 40s, a man and woman in their 50s, and a woman in her 70s.
  • Overall, there have been 128 positive cases of COVID-19, with 102 recoveries.
  • 4,596 negative test results.

Perry County Health Department:

  • 3 new cases reported - two women in their 30s and one woman in her 40s.
  • Overall, 99 positive cases of COVID-19, with 72 recoveries and one death.
  • 2,746 negative test results.

Randolph County Health Department (Region 4):

  • 1 new case reported.
  • Overall, 425 positive cases of COVID-19, with 368 recoveries and seven deaths.
  • 5,062 negative test results.

Richland County Public Health Department (Region 6):

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, 13 positive cases of COVID-19, with ten recoveries in Richland County.
  • 2,881 negative test results.

Southern Seven Health Department (Region 5):Alexander, Hardin, Johnson, Massac, Pope, Pulaski, & Union Counties

  • 1 new case reported - a woman in her 20s from Massac County.
  • Overall, Southern Seven reports 495 total confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 299 recoveries and 18 deaths.
  • 7,883 negative test results in the seven county service area (as of July 24).

Wabash County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 1 new case reported.
  • Overall, 28 positive tests have been recorded.

Wayne County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 5 new cases reported - a girl younger than 12, a woman in her 20s, a woman in her 30s, and two women in their 70s.
  • Overall, 39 positive tests have been recorded, with 26 recoveries and one death.
  • 2,749 negative test results (as of 7/30).
