Daily COVID Update: (July 29)

Wednesday brought another 1,393 cases of COVID-19 in Illinois, along with 18 more deaths attributed to the coronavirus. Those new infections pushed the overall case total to 175,124, and the death toll climbed to 7,462.

Meanwhile, the overall statewide positivity rate held steady at 3.8% for the week ending July 28, and health officials report 1,491 people were hospitalized across Illinois with COVID-19. Of those, 355 were in the ICU, and 152 were on ventilators.

LOCAL CASES (5:30pm Update)

Clay County Health Department (Region 6):

  • No new cases reported.
  • 10 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with eight recoveries.
  • 1,162 negative test results.

Crawford County Health Department (Region 6):

  • No new cases reported.
  • 28 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 23 recoveries.
  • 1,115 tests administered.

Edwards County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 1 new case reported.
  • 13 overall positive cases of COVID-19.

Effingham County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 79 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 54 recoveries and one death.
  • 4,294 negative tests results.

Egyptian Health Department (Region 5):Gallatin, Saline, & White Counties

  • 3 new cases reported - a man in his 40s and a man in his 70s from Saline County; a woman in her 80s from White County.
  • 183 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 63 recoveries.
  • 4,423 tests administered in the three-county service area.

Fayette County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 4 new cases - a man in his 50s, a man in his 60s, and a man and a woman in their 80s.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 52 cases with 39 recoveries and three deaths.
  • 2,120 tests administered.

Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 18 new cases reported - a woman in her 20s and two men in their 50s from Franklin County; one teen girl and two teen boys, a woman and a man in their 20s, two women and one man in their 30s, two women and one an in their 40s, one woman and two men in their 50s, and a woman in her 70s from Williamson County.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 112 cases with 59 recoveries in Franklin County, and 289 cases with 175 recoveries and 5 deaths in Williamson County.

Hamilton County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 13 overall positive cases, with ten recoveries.
  • 458 negative test results.

Jackson County Health Department (Region 5):

  • **Health Alert In Effect
  • 15 new cases reported - a preteen boy, five women and three men in their 20s, one woman and two men in their 30s, and one woman and two men in their 40s.
  • Overall, there have been 573 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 408 recoveries and 19 deaths.

Jasper County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 52 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 42 recoveries and seven deaths.
  • 1,250 negative test results.

Jefferson County Public Health Department (Region 5):

  • 7 new cases reported - a woman in her 20s, two women in their 50s, a woman in her 60s, and two women and wone man in their 70s.
  • Overall there have been 184 positive cases of COVID-19, with 135 recoveries and 14 deaths.
  • 4,728 negative test results.

Lawrence County Health Department (Region 6):

  • Overall, 41 positive cases, with eight recoveries.
  • 1176 negative test results.

Marion County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 4 new cases reported - two women in their 20s, a man in his 40s, and a man in his 50s.
  • Overall, there have been 125 positive cases of COVID-19, with 98 recoveries.
  • 4,569 negative test results.

Perry County Health Department:

  • 4 new cases reported - a woman in her 30s, a man in his 40s, a woman in her 60s, and a man in his 70s.
  • Overall, 96 positive cases of COVID-19, with 70 recoveries and one death.
  • 2,719 negative test results.

Randolph County Health Department (Region 4):

  • 4 new cases reported
  • Overall, 426 positive cases of COVID-19, with 362 recoveries and seven deaths.
  • 5,062 negative test results.

Richland County Public Health Department (Region 6):

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, 13 positive cases of COVID-19, with ten recoveries in Richland County.
  • 2,878 negative test results.

Southern Seven Health Department (Region 5):Alexander, Hardin, Johnson, Massac, Pope, Pulaski, & Union Counties

  • 3 new cases reported - a man and a woman in their 40s, and a man in his 50s.
  • Overall, Southern Seven reports 494 total confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 288 recoveries and 18 deaths.
  • 7,883 negative test results in the seven county service area (as of July 24).

Wabash County Health Department (Region 5):

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, 26 positive tests have been recorded.
  • 1,110 tests administered.

Wayne County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 1 new case reported - a man in his 20s.
  • Overall, 34 positive tests have been recorded, with 26 recoveries and one death.
