Daily COVID Update: (July 28)

Illinois recorded 1,076 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, lifting the overall case count to 173,731. The day's data also showed 30 more deaths attributed to the coronavirus, pushing the death toll to 7,446.

The overall positivity rate held stead at 3.8% for the week ending July 27, and health officials report 1,383 people were hospitalized across Illinois with COVID-19. Of those, 329 were in the ICU, and 128 were on ventilators.

LOCAL CASES (5:30pm Update)

Clay County Health Department (Region 6):

  • No new cases reported.
  • 10 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with eight recoveries.
  • 1,154 negative test results.

Crawford County Health Department (Region 6):

  • No new cases reported.
  • 28 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 21 recoveries.
  • 1,101 tests administered.

Edwards County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 1 new case reported.
  • 12 overall positive cases of COVID-19.

Effingham County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 76 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 54 recoveries and one death.
  • 4,227 negative tests results.

Egyptian Health Department (Region 5):Gallatin, Saline, & White Counties

  • 1 death reported - a patient from Saline County.
  • 7 new cases reported - a woman in her 70s from Gallatin County; a woman in her 20s, a man and a woman in their 50s, and a man in his 70s from Saline County; a man in his 60s and a man in his 70s from White County.
  • 180 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 63 recoveries.
  • 4,395 tests administered in the three-county service area.

Fayette County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 3 new cases reported - a woman in her 30s, a woman in her 50s, and a woman in her 60s.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 48 cases with 35 recoveries and three deaths.
  • 2,080 tests administered.

Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 6 new cases reported - a woman in her 60s from Franklin County; a boy under ten, a teen boy, a woman in her 20s, a woman in her 30s, and a man in his 80s from Williamson County.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 109 cases with 59 recoveries in Franklin County, and 275 cases with 175 recoveries and 5 deaths in Williamson County.

Hamilton County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 13 overall positive cases, with ten recoveries.
  • 458 negative test results.

Jackson County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 16 new cases reported - a teen girl, eight women and two men in their 20s, two women and one man in their 30s, a woman in her 50s, and a woman in her 80s.
  • Overall, there have been 558 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 387 recoveries and 19 deaths.

Jasper County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 1 new case reported - a woman in her 50s.
  • 52 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 42 recoveries and seven deaths.
  • 1,198 negative test results.

Jefferson County Public Health Department (Region 5):

  • 3 new cases reported - a man in his 30s, and a woman and a man in their 70s.
  • Overall there have been 177 positive cases of COVID-19, with 135 recoveries and 14 deaths.
  • 4,676 negative test results.

Lawrence County Health Department (Region 6):

  • Overall, 41 positive cases, with eight recoveries.
  • 1176 negative test results.

Marion County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 6 new cases reported - a woman in her 20s, a man in his 30s, a woman and two men in their 60s, and a woman in her 70s.
  • Overall, there have been 121 positive cases of COVID-19, with 93 recoveries.
  • 4,481 negative test results.

Perry County Health Department:

  • Overall, 93 positive cases of COVID-19, with 65 recoveries and one death.
  • 2,669 negative test results.

Randolph County Health Department (Region 4):

  • 1 new case reported.
  • Overall, 422 positive cases of COVID-19, with 358 recoveries and seven deaths.
  • 4,989 negative test results.

Richland County Public Health Department (Region 6):

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, 13 positive cases of COVID-19, with ten recoveries in Richland County.
  • 2,833 negative test results.

Southern Seven Health Department (Region 5):Alexander, Hardin, Johnson, Massac, Pope, Pulaski, & Union Counties

  • 5 new cases reported - a teen girl from Johnson County; a man in his 50s from Massac County; a woman in her 30s from Pulaski County; a woman in her 20s and a woman in her 40s from Union County.
  • Overall, Southern Seven reports 491 total confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 284 recoveries and 18 deaths.
  • 7,883 negative test results in the seven county service area (as of July 24).

Wabash County Health Department (Region 5):

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, 26 positive tests have been recorded.
  • 1,110 tests administered.

Wayne County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 1 new case reported - a woman in her 50s.
  • Overall, 33 positive tests have been recorded, with 26 recoveries and one death.
