Illinois' COVID-19 cases grew by 1,541 on Sunday, as the state put four counties on a warning list because of their infection rates and other statistics. Another 12 deaths were recorded, as well.

The new totals bring Illinois' overall COVID-19 case count to 171,424 and the overall death toll to 7,398.

The overall positivity rate held steady at 3.7% for the week ending July 24, and health officials report 1,394 people were hospitalized across Illinois with COVID-19. Of those, 345 were in the ICU, and 119 were on ventilators.

LOCAL CASES (4:10pm Update)

Clay County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 9 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with eight recoveries.
  • 1,089 negative test results.

Crawford County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 28 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 21 recoveries.
  • 1,051 tests administered.

Edwards County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 11 overall positive cases of COVID-19.

Effingham County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 61 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 41 recoveries and one death.
  • 3,943 negative tests results.

Egyptian Health Department (Region 5):Gallatin, Saline, & White Counties

  • 15 new cases reported - a female under the age of 2, female in her 40s and two females in their 70s from Gallatin County,  a male and female in their 60's, a female in her 70s and a male in his 80s from Saline County; a male under the age of two, a female in her teens, a male in his 20s,  a female in her 30s, a female in her 50s, and two females in their 60s from White County.
  • 156 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 33 recoveries.
  • 3,890 tests administered in the three-county service area.

Fayette County Health Department (Region 6):.

  • Two new case reported.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 43 cases with 29 recoveries and three deaths.
  • 2,026 tests administered.

Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department (Region 5):

  • Twenty One new cases reported Sunday.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 103 cases with 45 recoveries in Franklin County, and 268 cases with 150 recoveries and 4 deaths in Williamson County.

Hamilton County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 11 overall positive cases, with six recoveries.
  • 458 negative test results.

Jackson County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 38 new cases reported- a male under two years of age, two male and one female teen, 14 females and 13 males in their 20s, wo male and one female in their 30s, wo male and one female in their 40s, one male in his 50s.
  • Jackson County Public Health Department Issues Public Health Alert - asking all young adults in Jackson County to take immediate COVID-19 precautions to stem the tide of new infections. 70% of all COVID-19 cases in July are individuals in their teens and twenties.
  • Overall, there have been 528 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 367 recoveries and 19 deaths.

Jasper County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 49 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 42 recoveries and seven deaths.
  • 1,192 negative test results.

Jefferson County Public Health Department (Region 5):

  • Overall there have been 161 positive cases of COVID-19, with 124 recoveries and 14 deaths.
  • 4,479 negative test results.

Lawrence County Health Department (Region 6):

  • Two new cases reported.
  • Overall, 39 positive cases, with eight recoveries.
  • 1176 negative test results.

Marion County Health Department (Region 5):

  • Four new cases reported.
  • Overall, there have been 108 positive cases of COVID-19, with 82 recoveries.
  • 4,192 negative test results.

Perry County Health Department:

  • Nine new cases reported.
  • Overall, 92 positive cases of COVID-19, with 63 recoveries and one death.
  • 2,567 negative test results.

Randolph County Health Department (Region 4):

  • Overall, 403 positive cases of COVID-19, with 330 recoveries and seven deaths.
  • 4,701 negative test results.

Richland County Public Health Department (Region 6):

  • Overall, 11 positive cases of COVID-19, with ten recoveries in Richland County.
  • 2,707 negative test results.

Southern Seven Health Department (Region 5):Alexander, Hardin, Johnson, Massac, Pope, Pulaski, & Union Counties

  • Overall, Southern Seven reports 461 total confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 275 recoveries and 18 deaths.
  • 6,850 negative test results in the seven county service area (as of July 17).

Wabash County Health Department (Region 5):

  • One new case reported.
  • Overall, 26 positive tests have been recorded.
  • 1,110 tests administered.

Wayne County Health Department (Region 5):

  • One new case reported, a male in his 70s.
  • Overall, 30 positive tests have been recorded, with 23 recoveries and one death.
  • 2,235 negative test results.
