Daily COVID Update: (July 24)

Illinois' COVID-19 cases grew by 1,532 on Friday, as the state put four counties on a warning list because of their infection rates and other statistics. Another 19 deaths were recorded, as well.

The new totals bring Illinois' overall COVID-19 case count to 168,457 and the overall death toll to 7,385.

The overall positivity rate held steady at 3.4% for the week ending July 24, and health officials report 1,471 people were hospitalized across Illinois with COVID-19. Of those, 325 were in the ICU, and 115 were on ventilators.

LOCAL CASES (5:45pm Update)

Clay County Health Department (Region 6):

  • No new cases reported.
  • 9 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with eight recoveries.
  • 1,089 negative test results.

Crawford County Health Department (Region 6):

  • No new cases reported.
  • 27 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 21 recoveries.
  • 1,051 tests administered.

Edwards County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 2 new cases reported.
  • 11 overall positive cases of COVID-19.

Effingham County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 61 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 41 recoveries and one death.
  • 3,943 negative tests results.

Egyptian Health Department (Region 5):Gallatin, Saline, & White Counties

  • 19 new cases reported - a boy under 5, a girl under 10, a man in his 40s, two men in their 70s, and a woman in her 80s from Gallatin County; a boy and a girl in their teens, a man and a woman in their 30s, two women in their 40, and a man and a woman in their 50s from Saline County; a man in his 20s, a woman in her 40s, a man and a woman in their 50s, and a man in his 70s from White County.
  • 148 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 33 recoveries.
  • 3,890 tests administered in the three-county service area.

Fayette County Health Department (Region 6):.

  • 1 new case reported - a woman in her 60s.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 41 cases with 29 recoveries and three deaths.
  • 2,026 tests administered.

Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 25 new cases reported - a boy and a girl in their teens, a woman in her 20s, a man in his 30s, two women in their 50s, and a man in his 60s from Franklin County; a girl under 12, two teen girls, three women and one man in their 20s, one woman and two men in their 30s, a man and a woman in their 40s, three men and one woman in their 50s, a woman in her 60s, and a man in his 70s from Williamson County.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 93 cases with 45 recoveries in Franklin County, and 243 cases with 150 recoveries and 4 deaths in Williamson County.

Hamilton County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 11 overall positive cases, with six recoveries.
  • 458 negative test results.

Jackson County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 7 new cases reported - a boy under 10, three men and two women in their 20s, and a woman in her 30s.
  • Overall, there have been 460 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 348 recoveries and 19 deaths.

Jasper County Health Department (Region 6):

  • No new cases reported.
  • 49 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with 42 recoveries and seven deaths.
  • 1,192 negative test results.

Jefferson County Public Health Department (Region 5):

  • 9 new cases reported - a girl under 13, one man and three women in their 30s, two men and one woman in their 40s, and a woman in her 60s.
  • Overall there have been 161 positive cases of COVID-19, with 124 recoveries and 14 deaths.
  • 4,479 negative test results.

Lawrence County Health Department (Region 6):

  • 1 new case reported - an infant boy.
  • Overall, 29 positive cases, with seven recoveries.
  • 959 negative test results.

Marion County Health Department (Region 5):

  • Overall, there have been 104 positive cases of COVID-19, with 80 recoveries.
  • 4,050 negative test results.

Perry County Health Department:

  • 4 new cases reported - a man and a woman in their 20s, and a man and a woman in their 70s.
  • Overall, 83 positive cases of COVID-19, with 62 recoveries and one death.
  • 2,567 negative test results.

Randolph County Health Department (Region 4):

  • 8 new cases reported.
  • Overall, 403 positive cases of COVID-19, with 330 recoveries and seven deaths.
  • 4,701 negative test results.

Richland County Public Health Department (Region 6):

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, 10 positive cases of COVID-19, with nine recoveries in Richland County.
  • 2,664 negative test results.

Southern Seven Health Department (Region 5):Alexander, Hardin, Johnson, Massac, Pope, Pulaski, & Union Counties

  • 7 new cases reported - a woman in her 60s from Alexander County; a woman in her 60s from Pope County; a man and a woman in their 20s, a man in his 40s, a woman in her 60s, and a man in his 80s from Union County.
  • Overall, Southern Seven reports 461 total confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 275 recoveries and 18 deaths.
  • 6,850 negative test results in the seven county service area (as of July 17).

Wabash County Health Department (Region 5):

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, 25 positive tests have been recorded.
  • 1,110 tests administered.

Wayne County Health Department (Region 5):

  • 1 new case reported - a woman in her 60s.
  • Overall, 28 positive tests have been recorded, with 18 recoveries and one death.
  • 2,234 negative test results.
