Daily COVID Update: (July 1)

As the calendar turned to July, Illinois' total COVID-19 cases grew to 144,013, and its death toll rose to 6,951.

The new totals included 828 new cases Wednesday, and 30 new deaths from the virus.

The state's positivity rate - a number comparing positive tests with the overall test count - held steady at 2.6% for June 24-30. Illinois has processed 1.64 million tests since the pandemic arrived.

LOCAL CASES (5:00pm Update)

Effingham County Health Department:

  • 12 overall positive cases of COVID-19, with ten recoveries and one death.
  • 2,162 negative tests results.

Egyptian Health Department:

  • 1 new case reported - a man in his 20s from White County.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases stands at 16, with 13 recoveries.
  • 1,872 tests administered in the three-county service area

Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department:

  • 6 new cases reported - two teen girls and one teen boy from Franklin County; a man in his 50s and two men in their 60s from Williamson County.
  • Total COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 123 cases with 80 recoveries and 4 deaths in Williamson County, 22 cases with 13 recoveries in Franklin County.

Jackson County Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Jackson County's total positive test count is 330, with 296 recoveries and 19 deaths.

Jefferson County Public Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall there have been 109 positive cases of COVID-19, with 94 recoveries and 14 deaths.
  • 2,854 negative test results.

Marion County Health Department:2 new cases reported.

  • 1 case reported - a woman in her 60s.
  • Overall, there have been 67 positive cases of COVID-19, with 61 recoveries.
  • 2,348 negative test results.

Perry County Health Department:

  • 3 new cases reported - a teen boy, a woman in her 20s, and a woman in her 60s.
  • Overall, 54 positive cases of COVID-19, with 44 recoveries and one death.
  • 1,491 negative test results.

Randolph County Health Department:

  • 1 new case reported.
  • Overall, 289 positive cases of COVID-19, with 282 recoveries and seven deaths.
  • 3,046 negative test results.

Richland County Public Health Department:

  • No new cases reported.
  • Overall, 4 positive cases of COVID-19, with 4 recoveries in Richland County. Two additional cases were identified, but those patients live outside Richland County.
  • 1,541 negative test results.

Southern Seven Health Department:

  • 15 new cases reported - a woman in her 30s and a man in his 50s from Alexander County; a man in his 30s and a woman in her 40s from Massac County; two women in their 30s and a man in his 60s from Pulaski County; one woman and two men in their 20s, two women in their 30s, two women and one man in their 40s from Union County.
  • Overall, Southern Seven reports 320 total confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 197 recoveries and 19 deaths.
