The state of Illinois showed an increase in its COVID-19 cases on Monday, with a jump of 2,341 new patients. Forty-six people died in the last 24 hours, bringing the overall death toll to 2,662.
The Department of Public Health says there have been 63,840 cases of COVID-19 in Illinois. Ninety-seven of the state's 102 counties have reported at least one case of COVID-19.
LOCAL CASES:
Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department:
Four new cases of COVID-19 are being reported in Willamson County, while one new case is reported in Franklin County.
The Bi-County Health Department says the Franklin County case is a girl in her teens, and in Williamson County the cases include a woman in her 70s, a man in his 50s and two men in their 40s.
The Health Department says all patients contracted COVID-19 through contact with a known patient, or through community spread. Officials say most of the Williamson County cases over the last week can be tied to workplaces outside the county.
To date, Williamson County has recorded 37 positive cases with 13 recoveries, while Franklin County logged 10 positive cases with 5 recoveries.
Jackson County Health Department:
No new cases reported - for the first time since April 16. Eighty cases are still reported as active, with 58 people released from isolation and nine deaths.
Jefferson County Health Department:
No new cases reported.
Southern Seven Health Department:
Union County recorded its first death attributed to COVID-19, a man in his 80s.
Thirteen new cases of COVID-19 are being reported: A teen boy from Massac County, and 12 cases from Union County. They include two women in their 90s, one in her 50s, one in her 40s, and one in her 30s, along with a man in his 80s, one in his 50s, two in their 40s, one in his 30s, one in his 20s and one teen.
Southern Seven's overall COVID-19 count shows 64 positive cases, with 27 recovered from isolation and one death.
Randolph County Health Department:
As of Sunday, May 3, Randolph County's public health department listed 123 active cases of COVID-19.
118 of those are recovering at home, while five are hospitalized. Sixty-two people have been released from isolation since the outbreak began, and two have died.
