Carbondale's city council has approved a new, amended contract for Police Chief Jeff Grubbs - just a few weeks after he was named to the post.
Grubbs' original contract gave him a $15,000 housing allowance - on top of his salary - in order to have a residence inside city limits. Carbondale requires department heads to live inside the city, and Grubbs' home is just outside the boundary.
The new contract eliminates the housing allowance, but increases Grubbs' salary more than $17,000 per year - his new base salary is now $125,700.
