Consumer Group Says Thousands Die from No Medical Coverage

Nearly 5-thousand people in Illinois died in the last five years because they didn't have medical coverage.... says a new report from a health care consumer group.

"Families USA"  says people who are sick... put off going to the doctor... delay tests and procedures... when they have to pay out of pocket.

The group backs President Obama's Affordable Care Act.

American Cancer Society's Dick Woodruff says the law will save the lives of cancer victims. "Surviving cancer is very expensive and very difficult prior to the enactment of the affordable health care act ban on pre existing exclusions and other patient reforms 1 in 4 people had to put off health care by delaying treatment."

Under the affordable care act people will get help paying for health care...  and companies can no longer deny coverage to people who have pre- existing conditions or hike up premiums. The U.S. Supreme Court is currently reviewing the law on constitutional grounds.
