Illinois 12th Congressional district Democratic candidate Ray Lenzi held a press conference Monday at Carbondale City Hall confronting Congressman Mike Bost over the Ukrainian whistle blower complaint and the current administration.
The Wall Street Journal and Washington Post have reported President Trump asked Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate Hunter Biden over business dealings in the Ukraine.
Hunter Biden is the son of former Vice President Joe Biden.
Lenzi says if the whistleblower complaint is true, that’s a violation of campaign finance law and interference of a presidential election.
“We call on Mike Bost to call for a release of the whistleblowers transcripts and we call on him to point out that Trump is violating the will of Congress which has sanctioned Russia for the invasion of Crimea.”
Lenzi wants to know if Bost believes in the separation of powers in government and not accept dark money from Super PACs.
“We the people demand answers, our we the people campaign and movement says its time to step up or step down your silence is deafening, we the people demand answers and will not rest when corruption and cover up threaten our democracy.”
Lenzi faces Joel Funk of Mascoutah in the primary March 17 to decide the democratic candidate for the 12th congressional district.
