The City of Carbondale is extending its contract with the Carbondale Convention and Tourism Bureau to provide tourism services through the end of April.
The $138,000 contract is the latest installment following the re–organization of the Tourism Bureau and its board of directors this summer.
Tourism Board President Roxanne Conley says about 10–thousand dollars will go to purchase and place brochure racks in local hotels. She says currently those racks are controlled by a separate company and do not feature information on Carbondale attractions.
Conley says the Tourism Bureau will continue to work implementing a new marketing campaign that highlights the Carbondale brand. The campaign will focus on social media, the internet and mobile phones in addition to traditional advertising methods. The Bureau will also continue to update its website.
The CCTB marketing campaign will target Indiana, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, as well as Illinois.
