A Carbondale woman is sentenced for first-degree murder.

The Jackson County State's Attorney says 44-year-old Rebecca Valentine pleaded guilty and received a 25-year prison term. She is not eligible for early release or good time credit and must serve 100-percent of the sentence.
In the early morning hours of November 23, 2017, Carbondale Police responded to an emergency phone call at a Carbondale apartment.

Officers located 55-year-old Reginal Glispie lying unresponsive inside the apartment with a stab wound to his chest. He was taken to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale where he later died.

Valentine was at the apartment when officers arrived. In a recorded interview with law enforcement, she admitted to stabbing Glispie with a kitchen knife during an argument over her belief that he was spending time with another woman.
