Carbondale Chief of Police Jeff Grubbs is retiring.
He will retire on September 30, which will complete his 29th year on the police force.
Grubbs says he looks forward to the next chapter in his life, although he doesn't know what that will be at this moment.
In a written statement announced his retirement, Grubbs called on officers to continue to work hard, continue to listen and continue to learn. Above all else, continue to do the right thing, even when it’s not the easiest or most popular thing to do. He also challenged the community to support police officers by partnering with and getting to know them.
Grubbs holds Bachelor and Master Degrees from SIU-Carbondale. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development programs in Quantico, VA. He's also an Executive Board member of the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police
