The Carbondale police department is modifying protocols in an effort to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.
The department will be handling non-emergent calls over the phone, rather than dispatching an officer. The public is being urged to telephone police with non-emergent matters rather than coming to the police department.
Non-criminal fingerprinting and car seat installation are also suspended.
Police will still respond to emergency calls as usual, and request people notify 911 if they are experiencing flu-like symptoms so officers can take appropriate precautions.
