A Carbondale man was sentenced this week for being a felon in possession of weapons.
The Jackson County State's Attorney says 22-year-old Dayshawn Holmes received a six and-a-half year prison sentence for Unlawful Possession of Weapons by a Felon.
In June of last year, detectives with the Carbondale Police Department, working with two confidential sources, arranged to purchase a firearm from a targeted individual in an apartment in Carbondale.
During the gun deal, Holmes was seated next to the target with two handguns providing “security” for the deal. Holmes has two felony burglary convictions and is prohibited from possessing firearms.
