A Carbondale man has been sentenced to prison after he pleaded guilty to the charge of Unlawful Use of Weapons.

The Jackson County State's Attorney says 22-year-old Quinn Payne-Brandon received a one-year sentence.
Last May, Carbondale Police officers were dispatched to a report of shots fired in the northeast part of town.

Officers located fired shell casings at the intersection near Archie Jones Street and a semi-automatic pistol in the backyard of a residence on Archie Jones Street. The residents identified Payne-Brandon by his clothing and noted he was carrying a small red and black pistol with him. Officers determined the pistol was purchased in Carbondale the day before by Payne-Brandon’s girlfriend. She later confessed to buying it for Payne-Brandon, who did not have a FOID card.
