Carbondale Man Sentenced to Prison for Battering a Child

A Carbondale man is headed to prison after pleading guilty in Jackson County Court to Aggravated Battery to a Child, and admitting to violating conditions of Probation.
The Jackson County State's Attorney says 35-year-old TerrillTravis was sentenced to four-and-a-half yearsfrom an incident last July when Travis whipped a child with a charging cord and then stepped on the child’s head.

At the time of the incident, Travis was sharing a home with the child’s mother and the child.

In addition, Travis admitted to abide by the terms of the Court’s original sentencing orders and for committing new offenses. He was sentenced to serve threeyears in prison on a felony retail theft case, which occurred at the Murphysboro Walmart in 2018: and four-and-a-half years on a felony forgery case that occurred at the ZX Gas Station in Carbondale in 2017.
