A grand jury has returned an indictment charging a Carbondale man with murder.

The Jackson County State's Attorney says 24-year-old Judious Kizeart is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of armed robbery, one count of robbery and one count of criminal cannabis conspiracy.
The charges arise from a shooting incident on East Mill Street in February that resulted in the death of 35-year-old Brandon Brooks of Carbondale.

If convicted of first-degree murder, Kizeart faces a 20 to 60-year prison term. The armed robbery charge could bring a six to 30-year prison sentence; robbery carries a maximum sentence of seven years and the criminal cannabis conspiracy charge could mean up to five years behind bars.
