A Carbondale man is headed to prison after violating his probation.

Jackson County State's Attorney Mike Carr says 25-year-old Kenneth Ragans has been sentenced to three years for aggravated battery and three years for unlawful restraint. Both sentences will be served concurrently.
Ragans originally pleaded guilty to aggravated battery and unlawful restraint in December 2014 and was sentenced to probation for two and-a-half years. He was re-sentenced recently after his probation was revoked in March.

The incident occurred in July 2014, when Ragans refused to let a woman leave his residence. He ended up cutting her on the hand with a box cutter.
