School districts are preparing their plans for returning to school in the fall under phase 4 of restore Illinois.
School districts have over 60 pages of recommendations and guidelines from the state outlining how to reopen during COVID-19.
Carbondale Elementary superintendent Daniel Booth says administrators, teachers and support staff formed 7 teams to tackle each section of the guidelines.
“It is a lot to digest and its best to have when you’re trying to be collaborative and work with your employees, it’s really best to allow them to only have to focus on a particular area rather than having everybody focus on everything.”
The guide covers everything from communication, blended remote days, instruction and more. The state strongly recommends in-person instruction, but may utilize remote learning if needed.
