Camp Ondessonk near Ozark Illinois offers summer camps for youth.

The COVID-19 pandemic has hurt public fundraising efforts many non-profits depend on.  Camp Ondessonk Events and Marketing Coordinator McKenna Sawchak  says they have taken a big hit.

"When we had to make the very difficult decision to cancel all of summer camp, it resulted in a loss of two-thirds of our income for the year."

To make up for some of the loss, on December 1st, Giving Tuesday, the Camp is launching their own "Keep the Gate Open" effort.  Sawchak says it's very critical.

"Keep the gate open is gonna go to all of our operating expenses, which include salaries for our employees."

Camp Ondessonk is a faith-based summer camp in Ozark and has been operating since 1959.
