Cameras in IL Courts to Expand

Illinois Supreme Court Chief Justice Thomas Kilbride has announced another expansion of the state's experiment with cameras in courtrooms.
He says it appears to be working well and the expansion will add Boone and Winnebago counties in the 17th Judicial Circuit.  Currently 11 Illinois counties and four circuit courts around the state are participating in the pilot program.   Kilbride spoke Saturday at an Illinois News Broadcasters Association convention.   He says the order will be issued Monday.

The court announced in January that it would allow courtroom cameras for the first time in Illinois.  The 14th Circuit along the Iowa border was the first to be approved. The first high-profile test will be this summer's trial of Nicholas Sheley, who's accused of killing eight people in Illinois and Missouri.
