A southern Illinois State Representative says she'll launch a campaign for State Senate.
Representative Terri Bryant (R-Murphysboro) says she wants to serve as Senator in the 58th District – a position being vacated by current Senator Paul Schimpf. Schimpf announced last week he won’t seek reelection.
Bryant’s announcement coincides with Republican Day at the DuQuoin State Fair. The Murphysboro Republican has served in the Illinois Legislature since 2015, taking over the 115th House Seat when Mike Bost won election to Congress.
